I Protest !
I wrote "Tomorrow Morning" while my son was deployed to Afghanistan in 2009. The song is both a statement of my frustration that his generation was being sent of to fight in the same type of nonsensical wars that folks in my generation fought in - wars that end without anything really being accomplished. The song is my way of saying "sorry kids - we couldn't figure out how to stop these pointless wars - I guess it's up to you to figure that out now". I'm especially happy to have had AJ Alanson sing lead vocals on this song - she has a powerful voice, which fit the song so well, and really delivers the message. You may know AJ from one of her other creative endeavors - she's the author of the Admiral Inn mystery series - check out her books!
I love playing "All Along the Watchtower". It has a simple chord progression and memorable lyrics that deliver a strong message. When Stuart Doherty from Stubert Studios in the UK approached me about working together on this song, it didn't take me long to say yes! I sing the lead vocals, and played two lead guitar parts. Stuart played the rhythm guitar, drums, and keyboard parts. Stubert Studios did their usual amazing job with the production. I think this version stands up there with others done by some pretty amazing musicians.
I wrote "Too Much Time to Kill" after the school shootings in Wilder, Georgia. The news story was on the evening news the day of the shooting - but didn't even make the front page of the morning newspaper. Are we really that insensitive to children being killed? Enough is enough - we need to take some action to stop this horror.
