Waxahatchee Storms Into Hartford

It was a stormy night in Hartford, my friends...
Willie Nelson's 2025 Outlaw Music Festival came to Hartford, CT last night. The show was scheduled to start at 4:00pm at the indoor/outdoor Xfinity theater; however, a line of strong thunderstorms came through the City about 3:45, postponing the show about an hour. The Xfinity staff did a nice job of managing the crowd in what could have been a very hectic and potentially dangerous situation. Luckily for all of us attending, time was reserved for Waxahatchee's set.
Born Katie Crutchfield, from Alabama, Waxahatchee and her band are a young fresh voice in Americana music. True to the genre, her lyrics and melodies are honest, revealing, and poetic with a country feel. The "back line" of the band, consisting of a left handed pedal steel/guitarist, a versatile drummer playing what must be a 24" bass drum (which looked even bigger) and a keyboard/banjo player added volumes to the vibe of the band.
I was really glad to get to hear Waxahatchee's fresh new music live, and found it to be a nice contrast to the other performers, who are in the seasoned star to legend categories.
