New Release, Old Problem

Today, my song "Too Much Time to Kill" was released on all the popular streaming services. I wrote "Too Much Time to Kill" in 2024 after the shooting at the High School in Winder, Georgia. What struck me the hardest about that particular school shooting was that it barely got mentioned in any print or TV news broadcast that I was aware of. It's a hard to know that in the United States, we have become so de-sensitized to kids shooting kids that we hear about it and then forget about it in a matter of 24 hours. We should be outraged, and should be banging on lawmakers doors so hard that far more gets done to try to solve the problem.
Just to be clear - I am not against our right to own firearms. When I lived in Wyoming, I hunted with a semi-automatic rifle, with good reason, as that kind of rifle is some times needed to finish a kill in a way that's as humane as possible to the animal being hunted. I cannot find the logic behind the need for automatic weapons in the hands of civilians. I also fully understand that solving this horrible problem will not be accomplished just by changing gun laws. It has to start with parenting and vigilance in my opinion.
Enough is enough. My song is intended to be disturbing - and a call to action for all of us in the US to take a brave step to reduce gun violence.
